Just got back from picking my sister up from CAP.
It’s funny how little things change in 2 years. The LTs and boarding halls look more modern (yknow, steel and glass replacing ol' brick and mortar) but, at the end of the day, it's the same thing. CAPpers shouting their goodbyes at each other across a crowded auditorium, councillors (trying to) make themselves useful, etc etc.
Geoffery will probably blog about this exact same scene with a steady series of cliched phrases in the way only a litRA student can. Suffice to say he's looking at the world through rose-tinted glasses; I'm looking at the world from a more objective (read: cynical) view.
It's interesting to see people I know there. Apart from the RI guys, who seemingly possess an unnatural enthusiasm for being a councillor (it's virtually a litRA gathering) I think I recognized Yi Yong, from 2 years back, as those faithful readers will know, and Kexin, who obviously didn't recognize me.
Of course, everyone'll exchange handphone numbers, promise to keep in touch, SMS each other like crazy for the first, maybe even first two, weeks, perhaps even make 1-2 halfhearted attempts at a meeting, then slowly but surely drift apart.
I wonder how many people who went to CAP 2 years ago still keep in touch. I know the answer with regard to myself, and even assuming that I'm a shy lil' turkey (don't give me that look, it's a reference, okay) the numbers aren't encouraging.
Either way, it's my sister's thunder. I'll stop stealing it.
(When Geoffery posts, I shall go superlative-counting.)
